Swami Sivananda

YOGA is a way of life.

YOGA is a science of self-discovery.

YOGA is a physical and spiritual development path. This technique is not based on mysticism, but rather rigorous and complex, and dates back many thousands of years. It is a holistic science of the universe, giving everyone the opportunity to reach harmony of the body, mind and soul, to be in the unity with nature and the outside world, with yourself. And at the same time, spread around this harmony, peace and love. Yoga practice helps people to integrate themselves into everyday world, full of speed, tension and stress, maintaining the internal peace.

YOGA is not just physical exercises focused on flexibility of the body, but also a strong, consistent change of values and internal attitudes. Yoga philosophy not only has response to the essential questions of human existence, but also provides a theoretically and practically based path to overcome the stress not only physically but also spiritually and mentally. Yoga does not have a certain doctrine. Willingness and even relatively small effort will provide a lot of knowledge, strength, peace (Shanti) and blessing (Ananda) sense.

5 principles of yoga:

YOGA has an integrated, holistic approach to the man as a unity of body, mind and soul. Every human being is a complex integrated system, so physical exercises are not enough in order to achieve harmony and peace. In order to intelligibly render yoga teaching to people, Swami Vishnu-devananda formed a coherent and simple system of yoga based on the five principles, which enables to practice yoga as a full-fledged self-improvement system. These are principles that everyone can easily apply in life:

- Proper Exercise (ASANA);

- Proper breathing (PRANAYAMA);

- Proper Relaxation (SHAVASANA);

- Proper diet (VEGETARIAN DIET);

- Positive thinking and meditation (VEDANTA AND DHYANA).
